I’m currently in a manager role at Aetna, and if I move to a senior manager position with another team internally, is there a maximum percentage increase I can receive? I’ve heard 10% might be the cap for internal moves?

20 percent, per leader resources is the maximum that should be considered for a single pay grade promotion. And that is factoring how close to midpoint you will be in the new role, where your new peers are in relation to midpoint, and how much that new leadership has in budget to allow for the role.
My last hire I had to meet with my HRBP and explain why I needed the amount I did, taking those factors into consideration.
It’s dependent on your current salary against the funding for the position and salary range, so you’re going to get a lot of mixed answers here. I personally got 15% going from a 108 to 109. When I promoted my replacement from store manager into my old role I was limited to 4% because of his existing salary.
I went from Analyst to Sr Analyst. Moved from the PBM side to Aetna side and got about 13% increase.
Do research and negotiate. You can get more than 10% but it takes more signatures of executives and vp’s to sign off. I did it and you can too!
The max I’ve ever seen for an internal promotion, and it was recent, was a 20% raise. I believe the person was underpaid in their previous role as HR didn’t argue.
More than 10% may have been few years ago. Most recently in my org it was less than 8%!
Believe the max is 20%, but HR does everything in their power to persuade the hiring manager down to 10%.
