@c0 I don't see layoffs. Just a mass exodus of talent heading for the exit. And flying the bird on the way out. Canon won't fill the positions, spreading additional work on the remaining employees until the place implodes.

Happy, Sammy, you sociopathic piece of excr-ment?

Bragging about 200% profit growth on the one year anniversary of mass layoffs is just complete psychopath, narcissist level stuff.

Panel discussions were unnecessary, especially since some participants lacked a basic understanding of the topics in real life, so I'm not sure how they were selected to represent the topics. They were way too long, lacked strategic direction, and should never bring in politics during a corporate setting, especially when Japan was charging the US 68% tariffs. Get over it! Consider how to regain relevance without replicating existing services or concepts in the US market.

@a6 When that glitch happened, I took a biology break to put the whole thing into proper perspective.

Cute how they highlighted a 200% profit growth but still capped raises at 4% even for high performers. C-suite execs still laughing all the way to the bank...

@fc I can visualize Sammy watching CNN, MSNBC, and ABC’s The View simultaneously in his office on big screen TVs while being waited on by his secretaries fetching him his tea & sushi.

It was very stupid. They politicized the whole thing about tariffs but when sleepy Joe biden tanked the economy for 4 years...crickets!! I'm sure all the liberals will thumbs down this comment.

Tooting their horns about making a profit! The profit came from the price increase with no increase in tariffs!
They could’ve saved 40 minutes and cut out the segment with the FBI agent/commissioner, started the meeting at 1:30 instead of 1230 and perhaps we all could’ve taken a normal lunch! Or was she there to warn us that there’s technology to figure out who’s posting here lol!

@bq I agree 💯.. This board actually is a great outlet to vent and it makes it better knowing you aren't the only one that has valid concerns... People can say what they want, but this company is sinking fast!!! It's only a matter of time before the next round if layoffs happen..

@bq very therapeutic for sure!

I truly love this board! There is more unity and open dialogue on here than in the office. It’s great to see others are as frustrated as I am.

@bm like the lady talking about concentration camps during the last rally the troops company meeting. So out of touch and truly no sh--s given ever! To bring up Trump is as divisive as it can get during a company meeting! Politics should be kept out of any company meeting! Shameful really! But I’m sure the morale is up now #eyeroll

What is missing in this thread is apparently, Sammy didn't show his hand about comments on the Internet about him. Good boy, Sammy. Can you play fetch?

Sorry it was way too long especially for the people on Teams. No real Q&A from audience which I bet was intentional. Starting with a picture of Trump was an interesting choice as we all know it is a divisive topic. I didn’t understand the purpose of the Suffolk County police presentation. Can someone enlighten me? No offense to her as this is what she was asked to do, but the meeting lost momentum with her speech. Sure, she had a great career and tons of success getting bad guys but how does that help us?? The Google stuff, AI and marketing panels and Idea initiatives were insightful, but again, nothing earth shattering in terms of innovation…For a “luxury brand” we sure are lacking in the fundamentals.

What’s up with this half-hour cop/police part I’m reading about?

Was this like that wacky woman in January who told us to change our frame of view? Look at this lemon, it’s not really yellow, if you just look at things differently it’s blue, red, green, and purple!

I think the one thing we all learned today that is positive is the company is not doing bad at all. They are definitely concerned, like all companies, about the tariff situation. I don’t see any mass layoffs. Will they restructure certain departments that have a surplus of employees? Of course.

The sad reality as someone else pointed out on this thread, Canon is not making more money due to sales or servic increasing. Growth of .06% does equate to +200% profit growth. They are making more profits because they are paying less compensation.

The question is how long will people deal with this?

@az That's total bs. If you think any customer wants to deal with a robot, you are sadly mistaken. AI is just another tool. Good luck displacing humans. 😂

@ay When someone buys a product at an undercut price, there are hidden costs the customer is missing. And let's hope they have a lot of bacon in their behinds to sustain the chunks of meat and flesh out of them.

@b8 So who does the work then? Telling people to go buzz off doesn’t solve anything. I don’t see people lined up eager to work at Canon.I don’t need to change my ways, they need to change their ways.

I thought the meeting was good. Too long for sure, but interesting to see how we are using new technologies to help our business. The folks on this website should go find a new job if you’re so miserable. The print industry is tough for sure, and it’s not getting any easier, but we are still working for the best company in it.

I think we should all be looking for jobs within AI sales.

Look at what we are doing with AI. Most companies are probably moving in a similar direction. Hardware is not where the mike y is being spent these days. That’s why people are not calling back.

My initial take from today’s event was we are nothing more than su-kers if we continue to sell a product for a company who continues to diminish our pay.

When my customer says “Hey, the price increase is significant compared to my last lease” I will reply “We are a premium luxury brand.”

In a world where businesses are tasked with the same challenges we have, we expect that people will pay more for what they perceive is a commodity. Competition is sitting just waiting to provide a quote that will undercut us and ultimately cost us the account.

This company has done nothing for the sales reps other than take money back and limit compensation. Every change that has been made has been one to disrupt how we make money but yet Canon showed today they are +200% YOY.

Wake up people. They don’t care about you or your customers. They care about the almighty number and if that means you will make less than so be it.

We are releasing a new imageFORCE line and you heard more about how a cop from Lomg Island took down organized crime in the 90’s today.

I just can’t anymore with this company. I priced out a new business deal and I was told the incumbent was still less. How high is our pricing!!!!

First of all, I don’t have time to sit around and watch four plus hours of B.S. I don’t know why anyone would waste effort to log in to this circle j*rk.

Let me guess, Kobayashi cried about tariffs? Olds tried to be funny when he comes off like a stooge? PK did a song & dance about how great everything is with CSG? Incoherent mumbling by expats? How close am I to being spot on?

Some of us actually have to roll up our sleeves and do the dirty work. Another department sits on something for three weeks, “hey can you put a rush on this? My customer is screaming at me everyday”. Oh sure, let me stop what I’m doing, break my back while everyone is lounging around watching this sh*tfest, and let me log in until 10:30 tonight to get caught up on my work.

Now, do you think anybody in executive management could care about the day-to-day operations? Nope, too busy rubbing elbows and shooting the breeze at their swanky meeting.

Driving hard for effectively unlimited growth over the next 5 years in the print division while also telling the entire company to leverage generative Ai seems cartoonishly contradictory. Every company will continue to expand its use of Ai but the print division continues to set unattainable growth goals year after year.

I’ve been at the company for 12 years now. I can honestly say we are probably the least innovative public company.

Nothing changes. Nothing. It’s the same thing every single day. The same speeches, the same story, the same products, the same people feeding us BS…

Are we the titanic? Probably not. But there is zero chance we turn this thing around. I think the goal is really just to tread water as long as possible since we don’t know how to actually swim (<-unintended analogy).

Sammy and executive crew just repurpose the same stuff over and over without anything actually making a positive difference. New departments, new titles, new direct reports, new desk locations, new expat getting promoted to a position they have no business being in, new ways to try and re-purpose the same marketing materials to sell the same outdated products.

You can check back to this post in 5 years and this will still be valid and relevant.

Spill the tea. A few comments without any substance. What was grim about it? Sinking ship? Didn't sense any Titanic vibes though I thought the excuse about tariffs were just that, an excuse.

Again, elaborate details.
