Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Remember the Dell Family

Remember when they used to refer to everyone as the Dell Family? Uncle Mike would tell us how much be appreciated the hardwork of everyone in the family.

Well, while many of our former coworkers are facing the thought of losing the house they bought because they wanted to comply with the push back to the office or losing the car they had to buy because commuting was returnining as a way of life — Uncle Mike keeps getting richer. He is worth more than EMC was at the time of the merger.

Absolutely amazing seeing the Dell HR bots doing this zeroing out of the vote scores on every single comment.

I don't believe I've ever seen anything so pathetic in all of Tech.

And yes, MD and JC are lying, cheating grifters to the bone.

It takes a lot of chutzpah to get MASSIVELY fined by the SEC to the tune of $104,000,000 and then turn around and write a book about "winning with integrity" or some such blatantly hypocritical pap. But that's Uncle Mikey for ya! Always good for a LAUGH!

Hopefully the job market turns around.

For the duration of whatever this turns out to be, people need to save money. We will know when it is over. Hopefully, we come out on the other side without too much damage.

'He's the boss. He sets the rules.'

that's is true. MD is also a grifter who has reneged on a lot of promises to employees.
Never seen a company actively have a disdain for its employees. the cheapness is unprecedented.

So I do likewise till a better gig comes along.

"We've known about RTO for nearly a year now."

Yes we have known about RTO for some time. My best friend and former coworker was hired as a remote employee. He moved to a smaller more expensive house and bought a car when we were told to RTO. He was intbe first wave of layoffs and, unless something changes, will be declaring bankruptcy before Christmas. He averages 100 job applications per month and has received 0 interviews for anything paying close to Dell's below average pay.

Your examples show how out of touch you are with reality. He's the boss. He sets the rules.

It su-ks, but if "former" coworkers are facing those situations, they need to start applying for jobs that make more money. We've known about RTO for nearly a year now. It's been in practice since March. That's plenty of time to update resumes and start applying for jobs that fit people's lifestyles and needs better. Get out if it's that bad. It's going to take time. Better to go out on your own terms than wait for the hatchet.

I got laid off at Dell the first time 2 weeks after I closed on a house and had bought a new car. It su-ked. I sold the car, kept the house, and found a new job. Life goes on. I learned after my second WFR, when my gut says run, it's time to go on to greener pastures.

My requests for him to spend millions on my wedding have thus far remained unanswered.
