Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Is it weird that I'm more worried about staying then being laid off

I actually like my job and most of the folks I work with, and I really don't want to leave. If I do get laid off, then that is that. I am physically, financially and emotionally ready for it.

But, if I don't, there is a good chance I will be re-orgied into another job I hate in an environment that I cannot physically work in (and, yes, I have actively avoided this type of work).

I guess I need to look into how long after a transfer I have to wait before looking for another gig inside (looking outside will obviously happen as well)

@a2 excellent point. A part of me was hoping to be laid off to get a severance but having a job is better than nothing now with the BS about to happen.

It’s common. People just waiting for the package. Some stopped working long ago

It's not weird at all. I was exactly the same way. I love my work, but it's gotten to the point that the only upside to staying is the paycheck. I was notified last week, and was actually relieved. No more paycheck, but also no more mountain of stress worrying about it.

You must spent one year in your assignment before you're eligible for transfer

@OP Agree. It is what you are forced to do that is going to be the problem

@a6 what a mature thought process

@OP if my team's headcount is reduced, same amount of work will now need to be done by fewer people. We should all say f-k it. Since Intel let people go, Intel should now experience the effects of their actions.

A bad job is better than no job. August 1st tariff turmoil returns. No one is hiring. Some people are likely to be unemployed for years starting tomorrow.
