Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Dedicated Truist teammate forced out due to age

Extremely disheartening to see tenured teammates of more than twenty five and thirty years of dedicated service who are performing and making your bank money; being pushed out due to age/salary. It’s disgraceful that a new manager targets a teammate, micro-manage to do things his/her way or you face corrective action. Corrective action that has zero to do with performance but solely on not meeting manager way of doing processes. Sad Truist is losing such dedicated and talented bankers because of new managers who have zero reality of what One Team, support through care and purpose, and leadership means.

Maybe some self reflection is needed. Our perception of our contribution is not always accurate. I am middle aged and joined teams where in the first week tenured staff are seeking advice and asking me to explain things. Even with age and experience there is a responsibility we each have to remain informed of current industry practices and technologies. It may have less to do with your age and tenure and more to do with complacency thinking the same performance you provided 10 years ago is acceptable to give today.

Guess you have seen the work force in the past 30 years.

@fc not the ones I’ve dealt with. The most entitled, egotistical and know it all personally I’ve ever dealt with. But the guy has to have his tea pot by his desk while complaining ENDLESSLY about Truist. (It goes old 8 hours a day non-stop.)

@m7 true. We just found out that a new CSA in Wealth makes $60,000 to start. Places that person above all of the current CSAs who have been at Truist for 3 years or more. Unbelievable

@107 have a baby and take 12-16 weeks off? Try 20 weeks and you have your vacation and sick time on TOP of it.

@fc age discrimination is your thing, huh? How about focusing on productivity, knowledge, not having babies and taking 12 or 16 weeks off?

FYI The ones who have been with the bank over 25,30,35,40 plus years make less than a new hire. Let’s be honest.

@fc and you are probably a horrible manager and fit right here with those you mentioned. And just to clarify, I am 27, so I am probably one of the ones you hired and one day I will have your job unless you learn to value those with more experience than you, a lesson I have already learned.

@f2 Ignorant post - I don't think you even know the age group of boomers, as the YOUNGEST are now over 60 and the very vast majority are well over retirement age and not even working anymore - and even fewer at Truist because the smart ones took the early retirement options when it was offered. I wish I had been old enough then to take it. If your sole contribution to an honest post by the OP is to say "poor boomer" all you are showing is ignorance and lack of compassion. One day you will be "older" and subject to age discrimination - hopefully you'll gain some perspection and compassion for others by then.

I will only hire younger workers. They pick up on things quicker, learn technologies faster and overall are more effective contributors. Most managers feel the same way but are not vocal about it as it’s illegal

HBBT valued tenured associates because of their knowledge and experience. Truist doesn’t care about teammates, they only care about cost savings (well for everyone except EL which stand around and give each other millions in bonuses for absolutely nothing). Truist will learn the hard way that 30 year plus of experience cannot be made up in 5 years by a new manager.

Side note, why is Bill still here, shouldn’t he be let go like the rest of the tenured teammates??

@OP not the same bank. It is concerning when you work for an organization and the direction they are moving is completely off course with its purpose. We have lost countless of talented bankers and leaders. I left the bank after 34 years of service, it was hard leaving my team behind. The saying that people quit because of leaders is so true, and many of my team left the bank soon after I did. Sorry NOT Sorry Truist (ST & CEO, AKA evil Bill out for himself only Rogers)
