Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Jeff Clarke's closing down the studio

Initiative to gut all the labs, and close others. He's not even gonna open it back up for some Cambodian br---t milk and a sugar cookie.

The plan is start supporting products you know nothing about, all with 0 access to anything hands on, and be all in. Leadership doesn't understand the impact this will have. How can we repro issues for engineering, or answer our own questions live on a call vs having to fumble around a customer environment.

I came across folks having servers switched on by mistake with 1 year old broken software spamming mess on subnet and guy did not even know what or why he has it there.

40CPU 196GB of ram machines are often kept "for next time" same like public IPs.

Then you want to do real job - oh sorry got to wait.

Come on. 90% of the ISG lab stuff is shadow IT because they never completed the merger. You don’t need a huge lab to debug. You would never reproduce the customer environment anyway.
