Thread regarding American Electric Power Co. Inc. layoffs

I don’t particularly like my job here either

But the pay and benefits are decent, especially compared to some other places I’ve worked. I’m not thrilled with a lot of things, and leadership could improve plenty if they wanted to. Still, in this job market, I’m glad to have some stability. It could definitely be worse. That said, it’s always smart to stay open to other opportunities.

I'm here for the paycheck only. For as long as it's coming, I'm don't care about anything else.

What's not to like? There is zero accountability for those that do little to nothing. It's been that way for decades. Bonuses aren't good, raises aren't good, so why be a good worker? Getting fired requires your superior to do a lot of paper work and documentation. It requires too much effort to fire someone. That's why you can get away with it. You even get a warning via a performance improvement plan. It will outline what they expect from you. Just comply with the PIP and it'd be hard to fire you without that documentation. Just coast my friend and have fun talking to all the other good people at AEP that are demoralized, as well. Look around at those with 15+ years under their belts. I bet most of them are doing the bare minimum or less.

Don't talk about stability. You'll jinx it for yourself. I'm just saying.
