@j1 King sold out every single BBT employee and the majority now acknowledge that. He sold his soul for money. Never ends well.
My guess is what one thinks of Kelly depends a lot on whether they judge someone by their sermons, or by their actions. I never thought the two were remotely close with him.
d9+1jz1s2tme - you're a simpleton. I can tell from your post that you don't know what that means, so please look it up. Kelly acted in Kelly's interest only. Are you enjoying it?
It is sad that his legacy is so tainted by the merger. He lost all admiration and respect from so many after this botched “merger”. Had he stepped down in 2018 and the merger never happened he would still be loved and respected by most employees. Instead, he pushed for this merger and thought it would solidify his legacy and in the end it ruined it. Winston Salem curses him and so do most hBBT teammates because they can only dream of what could have been had he not done this.
Proof of how important corporate culture is. Kelly was a printed farmers almanac in a weather-by-the-minute world. If you loved him and that kind of leadership, nothing will shake you. Admirable and respected. And had he merged with a better bank or ceded to a stronger successor, his legacy would be very different. Sad that he was a hero til he wasn’t, and what little I know of him I think it hurts a bit. Sad thing was we all
knew this was a bad deal and no one could stop it.
@et They paid that stiff to drive around and shake every employee's hand, what a fraudulent waste. Glad I don't have to listen to him wishing me a blessed day when my old, equally fraudulent manager would make us "gather round" and slurp the latest koolaid.
Kelly was an OK CEO, if it was 1990. By 2010, he was a disaster.
Shut up you clowns.
Prolly think 100k is “a lot of money”
Tee hee hee
Bet you gots a beige computa
The Kelly defenders and sycophants never cease to amaze me. Good man? Maybe, but he was never very smart and that has been proven. He always had good people in the EL who could run the bank while he was out spouting his nonsense. Meanwhile two banks went through and are still going through the error of his ways. Make no mistake, BillyBob has complete control and in spite of all the mistakes he has made will walk away someday with 50 million or so. Good chance that while Trump is in office and regulations and scrutiny are relaxed he will merge or sell to a larger entity and all you fine “Teammates” will get to experience this he-l again. I’ll be sitting on the sidelines with a glass of good wine LMAO!
I liked Kelly and agree that he was a good man and the bank was far better off with him or John Allison before him at the helm. To say otherwise implies we are better off with Billybob, which simply isn't true.
I understand the frustration with Kelly selling the bank and essentially sending us up the river. He did sell out in a way. He needed an offramp and took the first one he saw. I truly believe he was fooled by SunTrust lies.
No one is 100% right or wrong here. Kelly is a good man who made a poor decision to sell to a den of thieves.
@c0 I agreed before he initiated the merger, but I hold him accountable for ruining what was a great heritage bank and ending up with this train wreck. He made millions off of it while we all still suffer.
Hi Kelly! I still have the roll of LifeSavers you gave me! I keep them in a little framed box mounted above my bed, next to my crucifix!
A great man
Stop running him down
Things were much better with Kelly at the helm
Nope! Seeds of weeds! Thanks Kelly!
