Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Promotions

Not sure if someone can confirm?

I have heard that there are shifts with remote workers. For any type of promotion they will now only first consider:

  1. Internal canidate- local MN hybrid
  2. Internal candidate- remote worker
  3. External candidate- local MN hybrid
  4. External candidate- remote worker

I am also hearing that are starting to require remote MN workers close enough to the campus to start coming in a few days a week.

Not sure what this means for 100% remote workers not able to come into the office?

Have not heard of that. Only that internal applicants first. Most teams and hiring managers are not in Minneapolis. There is no benefit to that team and would limit applicant pool. So he answer is no.

I have come to the realization that a promotion at Optum just means you’re one step closer to being laid off, specifically for grades 29 and higher.

What are these “promotions” you speak of?

There was an email that went out earlier this week that with requirements for “Hybrid” (not remote) workers to start going into the office 4 days per week.

You heard it from where? There are rumors all over the place. If you say they ARE ALREADY STARTING to request remote workers living close enough to MN office to come back to office then NO. Unless you heard it directly from expected person. Again, their boss might be just saying we encourage you to come to the office since hybrid folks are back now. That does not mean this is a policy.

I’m not saying it will not happen, it LIKELY will in the near future (Sept or so). But not now.

Wow, it seems like the traffic situation is going to be a real challenge. With so many people expected to attend, I can't help but wonder if the venue is large enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. Do we have any estimates on the expected turnout?
