Thread regarding Five9 Inc. layoffs

Customers Hate Our IVA/AI - Who's Head of both? Jonathan.

According to that lawsuit (and sales) customers are dissatisfied with AI?

Who drives our AI products? Jonathan R, CTO. He starts with "cool technology" and works backward to the product. What's the result? Low bookings from Agent Assist.

Customers hate the IVA Studio. Who drives Studio? Jonathan.
He made the decision to basically be an API product that only Professional Svcs can figure out. Customers hate it.

Steve Jobs once said for Apple the strategy is "where we can take the customer, not starting with 'let's sit down with the engineers & figure out what awesome technology we have and how we can market it'". We should adopt that mindset.

To anyone saying he has no real power/no direct reports. The org chart and meetings with him say otherwise. WFO, WFA, Studio, AI. He also pulls in team members from across the company aka "on loan" (for 4 years :D)

Often, he's got the entire application's "tech stack" drawn up with a bunch of service endpoints before the project's even started. OP is correct that he changed Studio to be a PS-only application. It was not this way before.

We need a new head of AI. Someone real who has built successful and inspiring products. Jonathan has a history at Five9 of really not delivering anything. Keeps changing goal posts and repackaging initiatives.

Jonathan is just a talking head and has no direct reports. Just there due to being part of the legacy Burkland crew and being somewhat of a good talker. He's not driving any change or products.

Jonathan has no real power, he reports to a VP. It’s years of broken product leadership that answer to sales and marketing leaders. It’s Burklands (and even Rowan) chasing the next bubble.
