What poor justification for DEI!
Two wrongs don't make a right.
Failing upwards is not acceptable and should be stopped just like DEI!

@14k

There are plenty of white males that failed upwards into executive positions here. Did DEI do that too?

@qb maybe true but since Omar announced 10 years ago that MDT would have 50%+ women and 25%+ POC in Director level position and above by 2020 and then Martha came on and doubled down on it, the company has been in decline. Especially the last 4-5 years. You can’t push out and promote over thousands of people with deep industry knowledge and strong customer relationships and not feel the consequence down the road. DEI is not the only reason but it clearly is one of the prominent ones.

India outsourcing has nothing todo with DEI, please leave us alone. We are strictly a cost saving steps. Get yourself educated.

How is it DEI initiative hurting the company when its GM lack of leadership and poor decision making in terms of business strategy? It seems like you are just blaming a nonexistent issue to gaslight from our leaders business decisions. It begs the question. Are you GM or part of his circle?

If you hate DEI so much, explain why Medtronic is outsourcing our jobs which will cause lower quality products.

Dear @bt, it's clear you're an individual contributor who has benefited from DEI initiatives without understanding their broader impact on organizational health. Your ascension to senior leadership roles would only serve to further erode our talent pool, prioritizing diversity quotas over merit and competence.

Let me be blunt: your approach would decimate our organization's capabilities, replacing seasoned professionals with less experienced individuals who fit a specific mold. I won't stand for it. We need leaders who prioritize results, talent development, and organizational excellence, not just diversity box-checking.

Or, if you'd like it even more direct:

@bt, your DEI-driven approach is a recipe for disaster. You've clearly benefited from these initiatives, but at what cost? Our organization would be better served by leaders who prioritize merit, talent, and results over ideology and quotas. I expect leaders who can drive real growth and innovation, not just tick boxes.

Well ... it is an undeniable trend in the absolute wrong direction, measured over many, many years. Not just a one-off scenario.

Sadly, it aligns with most experiences on this board and elsewhere.

It's not going to change overnight either. And certainly not with the same leadership.

Thus, you have to ask will it ever change at all ... in our working lifetime ? Even if true corrective actions are initiated today. How fast can responsible leadership change this trajectory ?

There is none so blind, as those who will not see.

Here comes grandpa and his DEI rhetoric. Maybe you should be a better employee than blaming DEI for everything.

@ba

Os--a’s introduction of DEI initiatives has been a disaster. Instead of driving results, we've added thousands of unnecessary headcounts who seem more focused on social media posturing than actual productivity. It's time to cut the fat and refocus on what matters - delivering results and driving business growth.

The bloated bureaucracy and lack of accountability are suffocating our organization. We need to streamline our operations, eliminate redundant positions, and hold people accountable for actual performance.

It's time to stop wasting resources on DEI & Karen.

BSX under Mahoney has smoked us! Is Geoff Martha working for him? Seems like ki-ling off Medtronic with such stupidity has to be an inside job.

I'd love to see a yearly graph showing the percentage of overall wage pool spent on Director level and above. In spite of recent corporate slogans, Medtronic used to be much more engineering driven.
