If the goal is to push people out through constant uncertainty and scare tactics, then congratulations, it’s working. I’ve already started looking, and the next time something even halfway decent comes along, I’m taking it. I’m not hanging around hoping for severance or trying to guess whether I’m safe. I’m done playing the game. The stress isn’t worth it anymore, and the trust is long gone.

"starting to look" is totally different than an offer in hand. It's a very different market now (oh cr-p, the closer I can think is the 2009 recession) and sadly the Intel badge doesn't favor us either.

If you can afford to quit and don't need another job, then you're not really under much stress.

My guess is that he never worked for Intel and doesn't want anyone else to do so either.
I am sorry that you are going through this. When I was at Motorola in the early 2000's there were multiple rounds of layoffs every quarter. It was like walking around a funeral parlor every day. Stress was there. Some people jumped ship to other industries.
I quit last year when the sh-t show accelerated. Found a new fully remote job with better pay and far less toxic management. Justin Hotard lasted less than a year at Intel after forcing RTO. And now he's CEO of Nokkia LOL wish I could fail upward that hard.
Nothing to lose. Intel is very toxic to people's long-term morale and make people lose technical competence as well. The only skills earned is the powerpoint presentation.
Leaving Intel is a good choice! If a place does not suit you anymore, leaving is the best choice.
I left Intel last year and I am feeling much happier. I also earn a lot more than Intel now.

@OP Good luck to you. Many (myself included) have been actively looking and will jump at a decent opportunity. Many others have "quiet quit" or retired in place.
