I’ve heard there may be additional layoffs in Bulgaria between late July and early August. Do you have any information on how many people might be affected or which teams could be impacted?
Thanks..

What a relief to see some of the dead weight from the UI team finally cut out, especially those who built their careers by su-king up and rubber stamping every bad idea that came their way. Unfortunately, there's still plenty of bloat left behind. Good job HT, trim my manager next please.
Sofia 2025 Staff 1
India V3? Much worse than India tbh - check managers in Sofia - useless r*tards
Truth hurts. Truth is VMW never should have setup shop in "5 employees for the price of 1 Californian" Bulgaria. Unwinding it now. Enjoy the cash you made while you did, India V3.
Starting in early August, a 15% workforce reduction will take place. The next round is anticipated in January, with an additional 10–20% cut. The current focus is on higher-level individual contributors (L6/L7), while the January wave is expected to impact more staff-level roles.
Regarding the comment about only 100 people remaining in two years—I don’t have data to confirm that. However, by year three, we expect the work to shift primarily to maintenance efforts. Not a good place for people younger than 40.
Why do all these 3rd world countries start to believe they employed by giant US tech co's because they'rrrrrrre GREAT? My Irish g-grand dad didn't have such illusions when he came through Ellis Island to be a canal ditch digger - he knew it was 'cause he and his crew were CHEAP AND DESPARATE (= good slaves for the man), not because he was the best damned ditch digger in the world. What a crock. Yeah, Bulgaria is so good they gotta stay. Sure.
25% of l7 will be gone in August. Staff 1 for now are safe, but next wave I expect to cut very deep there. Sofia office will be less than 100 people in 2 years. good luck
Join the Krispy creme club and enjoy life.
If you think the work you are doing is really meaningful and that is the reason you are employed, then I have a giant red bridge in SFO for sale at really nice price for you. Most customers are still struggling to upgrade form 6.5 to 6.7.
Love your boss. Love your boss's boss. Get a mentor. Enjoy. Don't worry about layoffs. This is the way to live.
Pulling a thread unravels the sweater. Krispy will not do that with his people. Only they will be left in high cost Palo Alto.
Sofia is 3rd world office, currently very highly paid for their country, but the price is this won't last very long. Enjoy peanuts as tomorrow you will be free labour
Afaik between 100-200 people will be gone, this time more principals will be kicked out.
I bet Krispy first reduces all the people who don't come from the same country as him, and only when there is no one else left will the countrymen will be reduced.
Sofia office will be reduced to 200-300 people until end of 2026. I am already working on planning those changes, unfortunately US/IE will have similar impact.
Afaik between 100-200 people will be gone, this time more principals will be kicked out. Starts early August, managers will know late July. Next wave is in September.
We will use AI to rewrite the code
I hope they also apply AI to replace all the useless SVPs, VPs and marketing türds that already ask ChatGPT like a second grade student to do their homework for them.
Bit eventually, all positions at VMware will be filled by AI. It’s Hock’s wet dream. Your severance package will be 2 hrs work and HT’s cũm on your face.
In Hock we trust.
Some of the code was written 25 years ago. We will use AI to rewrite the code. No need for all these people who have been patching up this crazy code?
That is the same wave that swept US, India, Corl in early June;
Beginning of August is the notification for Bulgaria
Rumour has it, it will take out close to 80-90 folks.
All remote folks are goners.
Read my lips. No more layoffs ever. We've got to make sure the people work hard and get back into making sure the customers get what they are paying 10x for.
No more layoffs. It's done
Make hay while the sun shines. Don't take any extra projects/targets/goaaals/quotaaas. Better to do what you can rather than rissskk not delivering and getting to the top of the list. Once you take a project the random deadlines and expectations will put you in a position of risk. This is a way to create guilt so that you can blame yourself if you get fired.
