Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Most ridiculous Nielsen memories or gifts.

Nielsen never ceased to amaze me with their lack of competence. I’ll start off with my three favorites.

  1. Receiving a coloring book and colored pencils for a year of leadership support with their BRG programs.
  1. Receiving a money tree (live tree) in the mail after being given my termination date and paperwork.
  1. Receiving a form thank you letter and cheap icon graphic for my company email signature after graduation from their yearlong GROW program.

What were your favorites?

An AI contest organized by the company where the winners were promised all from prize money to swag, saw none of it.

Man, before the GE corporate raiders took over in 2006, Nielsen was a great place for parties and recognition. Especially in NYC. In fact one year my team was flown to another Nielsen office and taken out to a special dinner for Christmas at a top restaurant. Great, great times. I even had a higher up manager of our division invite about 20 of us over on a Thursday afternoon during the holiday season for a Xmas at his house! Was great. So warm and welcoming. Wish I could name names. Oh and all the annual retreats to Florida (usually visiting Dunedin or Oldsmar)...while staying at nice hotels in Clearwater beach! Man, great times. Booze cruises. You name it. But by my 10th and 15th anniversery most were gone (retired or fired or fled) so I didn't even get an acknoledgement. Lol. Not even from HR.

Spending money on events which, per person, cost more than an employee's payrise

One year for the holidays we were given loose cake mix in a gift bag. Just enough to make a mug cake, but no mug or instructions

In a period of layoffs (are there years where this hasn't been the case?) I received a XL fleece for the team I had just had to close down....tone deaf Americans.
