Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

AI and India replacing American workers at Walmart

Guys I hate to say this, but I feel like Walmart has been on a mission to replace American workers with AI, automation, and workers from India.

If you work in the DC’s, I’d be worried. They will eventually automate all that and cut those workers.

If you work in Merchandising at Home Office as a Merchant or Merch support, all those new programs and automation they’ve been working on will eventually lead to your jobs being reduced. I’d get out while you can.

If you work in tech, your job will be eliminated and outsourced to Bangalore or replaced with H1B workers.

Walmart has a HUGE goal in merchandising to source many billions of dollars of products from India because (in my opinion) they view India as the next major market with a strong middle class and they want to ingratiate themselves to the Indian government and people.

Between the goal to buy more products from India and shifting home office jobs to Indian workers, they’re trying to buy India’s good will. And to be clear, I love people from India and I know they want a better life the same way we all do. It’s just hard to swallow because it’s coming at the expense of the jobs of people I care about.

I’m surprised nobody has done a news story about this or gone to the press about it. Maybe some needs to tweet at President Trump or Marjorie Taylor Green or Tom Cotton and ask if they’re for American Citizens and American jobs first, why aren’t they doing anything about the H1B problem or jobs being sent out of the country?

I don’t think a lawsuit over this would do anything, to be honest. I really think it’d take a Target/DEI style boycott from some bad press to get this mess to stop.

I always used Walmart, I don’t anymore. Did a research of grocery stores with affordable prices and that’s where I’m going to now. I don’t feel comfortable with a store with majority of Indian employees.

I keep telling the Buyers. Its chop is coming.

Think about it.
Automated mod drawing that they’ve been testing
A system that does your assortment precision data
An AI tool that tells you what’s going on with your business
An AI tool that negotiates your vendor contracts

If the handwriting isnt on the wall, I don’t know what is. Get out of Buying and make a path to change careers.

I think AI AND the offshoring of jobs needs to be addressed by regulators.

AI is going to destroy millions of jobs. In Buying. In financial forecasting. In Tech. If you work in those areas at Walmart, they’re trying to cut jobs with AI.

And the H1B and India (and China) offshoring of jobs is out of control. If you work in tech, Walmart is replacing those jobs in Bangalore or with H1B workers.

Walmart started as an American company. Now it’s an international conglomerate.

If you live in Bentonville, I’d get out before they start scaling back Buying the way they did Replenishment and planning. If you wait and get caught in the big chop, you’ll be trying to find a job along with everyone else that just got laid off.

Also, over time as AI and automation takes over merchandising, the suppliers won’t need to maintain so many offices here and those jobs will dry up. Bentonville is a company town. Always remember that.

Finally, this is the discussion that has needed to happen for at least 10 years. Walmart has been replacing high wage tech workers with foreign wage slaves with the full support of our government. It is not good for our country or for American workers. Yes, American IT professionals need an advocate.

The Indian Influence is at the center of most the layoff and H1B related issues. They are more loyal to their Indian countrymen than they are to Walmart associates. They get hired as managers or directors, then involved closely with the vendors. It’s their goal to displace every US born worker and put one of them in place.

It’s too far gone to stop it. Walmart’s technical future, merchandising and Buying is headed for the toilet. Just get out.

Yes, Sam said “Swim Upstream”. But I don’t think he’d expect you to swim upstream against your own company.

It’s not AI or India, it’s our Own cheat politicians (either side ) and their political donors.

They can easily shut off offshore by taxing to companies directly or applying tariffs. Why nothing on taxing offshoring in Big beautiful bill which require only party line vote. Tri fecta but nothing done.

H1b minimum wages to $175k is easy to do. Single rule publishing for 30 days and done. Nothing more but nothing done after 6 months says all.

Legal immigration issues are easy to fix but no one cares as all care about their donors only.
