Thread regarding Lockheed Martin Corp. layoffs

Piling on top of updates from this week

Lockheed Martin will lay off workers at its Greenville, South Carolina location. The cuts come after the U.S. Air Force ended its F-16 Depot Sustainment Program contract with the company.

The $900 million contract began in 2020 and was expected to last 10 years. It ended in April 2025 and was not renewed after five years.

Lockheed Martin said it will reduce 10% of its Greenville workforce. The facility employed over 1,800 people in 2024, so about 180 jobs are likely affected.

The company called it a difficult decision and said it was driven by cost pressures and the end of the contract. Lockheed said it will offer outplacement services and career counseling to support impacted employees.
