At least until the next earnings report.

I know lots of guys who are competitive but lose a lot. It just makes them bitter, bad losers.
@b7 oh, I agree that they don’t really believe what they are saying much of the time. And a grift? I suppose so. I used to know JC pretty well. Whatever you think of him, he is truly the most competitive person I have ever known. He will do anything to win, whether that is competitive market, money, title, sports.
But the way that he and MSD are running the business seems to make no sense and is unquestionably not growing the business. I don’t understand it at all and now that I’m not at Dell any longer, I really don’t care except that it’s hurting a lot of good people.
Still a lot of managers that have less than 20 reports
No. I dont think JC nor MD believe any of the garbage they regurgitate. It's a grift for both of them. Watch some interviews with MD about AI. His irrelevancy is so thick you almost touch it thru the screen.
@aj yes and no. Downsizing is usually a downward spiral, which is why the headcount targets keep going lower. You cut heads, you lose revenue, you need to cut more. I posted this previously, no company has ever shrunk its way to success. Seems like JC thinks that AI can make Dell the first to achieve that.
First week of August, big cull
Big changes in Q3. Divisions will be consolidated, Managers roles will take a large hit.
cost-cutting is always considered part of "earnings" now.
So you are not saying much.
Layoffs are planned months in advance, not as a knee-je-k reaction to a single earnings report. Headcount targets are (i.e., 10%) are identified, Manager are notified, and the painful process of stack-ranking begins in accordance with where people fall in the OHRP reviews. Then HR has to calculate packages and occasionally the targeted employees are given a couple of weeks to find alternative positions which almost never occurs because every 'leader' knows these were the folks at the bottom of someone else's stack-ranking. It's a process that takes a lot of churning and I'm sure there's more than I listed.
I don't think you heard JC. The pace will only increase. I don't see anything stopping this. It will su-k the most for who ever stays. They will be squeezed dry before being pushed out like everyone else. I already see those folks under NDA. Would not want to be in their spot.
Yea right
