About 20% of central office staff at Austin Independent School District are being laid off to address a budget deficit.
AISD is downsizing its campuses in a move its superintendent called “necessary” to align administrative functions and reduce costs. More than 170 employees are being affected by the plan, which includes job and salary cuts.
