For years, managers, directors, and VPs failed miserably under the guise of promoting work-life balance, all while over-hiring and ultimately harming employees. Now, their latest tactic is to rebrand ineffective managers as individual contributors and lay off engineers who earn a fraction of their salaries. The justification? Engineers are no longer needed because the products have been ZBBed. Why didn’t these so-called leaders address this problem six months ago when the co-CEOs were still around? Their incompetence has had a devastating impact on many families. They say next batch will be announced mid next month I get a feeling of being in a sla-ghter house waiting for sacrificial. Industry is bad at the moment for new jobs.

Great post! Exactly what is the problem in Intel. I wish the CEO can see your post.
The managers who should be laid off rebranded themselves as IC and become so-called technical lead. They do not have any technical competence, and are the root cause of previous problems. The hard-working engineers or technicians become the victim in the sla-ghter house.
Most managers that I know at Intel don't have the knoweldge or skills to become individual contributors.
The fact that these leaders are driving these decisions when in fact they’re responsible for all what Intel is facing now is a huge red flag and is indication that nothing has changed and Intel will continue to shed its real wealth, individual contributors, while these so called leaders remain in their positions doing absolutely nothing.
