Thread regarding Twitter layoffs

Layoff Email, no signature = weak

Team,

In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday. We recognize that this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company's success moving forward.

Given the nature of our distributed workforce and our desire to inform impacted individuals as quickly
as possible, communications for this process will take place via email. By 9AM PST on Friday Nov. 4th, everyone will receive an individual email with the subject line: Your Role at Twitter. Please check your email, including your spam folder.

If your employment is not impacted, you will receive a notification via your Twitter email.

If your employment is impacted, you will receive a notification with next steps via your personal email.

If you do not receive an email from twitter-hr@ by 5PM PST on Friday Nov. 4th, please email peoplequestions@twitter.com.

To help ensure the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data, our offices will be temporarily closed and all badge access will be suspended. If you are in an office or on your way to an office, please return home.

We acknowledge this is an incredibly challenging experience to go through, whether or not you are impacted. Thank you for continuing to adhere to Twitter policies that prohibit you from discussing
confidential company information on social media, with the press or elsewhere.
We are grateful for your contributions to Twitter and for your patience as we move through this process.

Thank you.

Tech companies have been selling the future of our AMERICAN children for decades by brining in H1Bs because they can pay them on average 40-60 cents on the dollar. I don’t blame anyone from any country for taking advantage of that opportunity. But understand it for what it is. I hope the current situation at Twitter signals the beginning of the end of H1B blight on Americans entering the work force.

I have never been laid off. I did get to watch the sheeeet show that ensued fro mother being laid off around me. The early 2000s, latter 2000s, and so forth. Through it all, I survived.

It's never fun but every worker in America should have the experience of being laid off or fired for that matter. It's part of the learning process to grow and explore other opportunities. If you're wondering, I've been fired twice and laid off once with no worry in the world.

H1B holders and families expect way too much. They are guest workers. Possibly with a path to green card. It is their job to look out for their own interests. Nobody owes them anything here in the US. We are not grateful that they come here, they should be grateful for a chance to come work in the US. If they really wanted to stay here they could have picked or transferred to a company much less dysfunctional than Twitter.

My bank was supposed to do this years ago, nowhere near the stones or guts to do what Twitter did so it just limps along, ki----g time and disappointing shareholders.

For those holding lots of shares, once the shock of layoff wears off, will be curious how you reflect on this event and the stock's performance/projection.

I don't think many in the US will be that worried about the H1B people. Lets be honest, India is full of people willing to take that chance. Just appreciate the money you earned and I hope you saved some of it.

The most disgusting layoff I heard of with an antonymous letter.

These people will not sleep tonight, will desperately look at their spam folder.

The H1B holders and families will have to leave US in 3 months unless they find a work.

Unlikely, in this market.
