It's really disheartening to see the people doing actual work getting burned out, while ex-managers are switched to IC's and don't do much due to their lack of technical skills.
Their headcount could have been used to hire actual technical workers to lessen the load on the team.

Good luck trying to get a tune out of someone when you’re not their direct manager. Any manager or director that has moved to IC has no shame if they are hanging around. All you techies out there had better start getting used to being dragged onto “programs” to enable collaboration, enhance communication and a whole host of other non-quantitative meetings designed solely for visual impact

The joke is the VP who didnt know the "S" of a Server is now "contributing" to Edge AI solution blogs. Any dignified leader would have resigned before he lays off his entire team and hides in the AI org pretending to "contribute".

I am one of the managers being turned into an IC and I have been told that my remit will not change, only my title. To put it simply, the new managers won’t be able to support 20+ people by themselves.
