There were rumors about layoffs in July, can anybody confirm this?

My goodness there is always a threat of layoffs during a downturn. It's cyclical, so you should always anticipate layoffs every 3-4 years, no bonuses or cost of living increases, promotions without compensation increases, etc.
Will it matter? Will it change the way you work?
Focus on the things that you can control and everything is gonna be alright.
Why listen to rumors? Just focus on your work and dedication, no use getting all worked up on something you have absolutely no control over.
I hope it's just baseless rumors, but I still want to check.
