Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The cuts won’t make much difference

Except for the people who’ll lose their jobs and be pushed into an already saturated tech job market. Even for those who survive this round, more cuts are likely just around the corner. Unless, of course, there’s some brilliant, strategic plan in place that I haven’t heard about. On the bright side, leaving Intel might help some of us remember there's a whole world beyond it - something I had forgotten too.

Headcount reductions will continue to destroy moral, risk taking, innovation, teamwork, enthusiasm, knowledge and any real chance of saving the company. New less-expensive employees will also not save Intel or help Intel very much... GLTA.

@cx ... old and experienced aren't always a bad combination. There are plenty of senior managers who aren't very old and haven't been at Intel for very long that are awful leaders. Everyone should be evaluated on their contributions and overall value to the company. There are a lot of older employees who are just collecting a paycheck but there are also a lot of new/recent hires with no work ethic. Both need to be removed.

Anyone who is with Intel for more than 29 years in the top 2 layers need to go. There is only a hope then

Agreed, it’s too late for the cuts to matter for a turnaround. As @ai stated it’s to optimize the company for sale. Intel is behind in both products and process technology there is no point in trying to optimize it to be competitive.

It's the standard model. Cut as many people as you can without drastically negatively affecting the customers then SELL the company off. Sometimes they roll in Six Sigma to pretend that its an improvement effort.
