Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Get rid of all free riders

The goal of upper management is to identify all the quiet quitters and ensure they are included in the next round of layoffs. One indication is that these individuals are likely not spending eight hours in the office and are delivering mediocre performance. It won’t be difficult to identify them. It’s time to remove these free riders and entitled individuals

@bs yes...if the big brother wants to track ins and outs they can already do this. No add'l investment needed.

You have an objectively outdated opinion of productivity if your metric for assessing if someone is "free rider" is determined by hours spent in an office building.

Opinion discarded.

If they want to get rid of the freeloaders they should start with the people making all of the misguided strategic decisions. Let's take Travis. He said that parallel file systems are a "niche" market and our solution is to partner. But who could have seen that these are important for large AI training workloads? Not Travis. Not John Roese. Now we find ourselves getting our butts kicked by Weka.

@bw already have. Look at the floor mats walking in/out.
Im sad about this because the app to drive engagement, excitement, roll up the sleeves and make a difference (w a stock payout for employees) could have been huge. Lets go private again

not sure anyone really understands the motion mechanics here but here's my view ..... the future as an employee w 20+ Opex cuts to maintain NI looks like this: 1) JC email "all in on reducing HC" is really about layoffs w 7/3 comms and then 7/11 deliver sev of 2 months + 1 week for every year, 2) Q3 Opex cuts deep in Oct 23% Fin, Ops focus, sev may be adjusted to nothing so try and negotiate now, 3) Monarch w Feb target implementation is focused on 46% cuts across all Corp functions (doubt we will have it in based on past track view) but will still cut staff. Then .... highest bidder buys what remains. Be aware and own your career. Maybe just ride out the cluster F if your young and you'll be employable. But own your future

“ Q3 starts badge in and badge out when leaving the building.”

Dell doesn’t have a system to record “badge out” numbers. You think they’ll invest 5 million in new code readers for all the doors and tracking software??

I don’t need 8 hours a day to complete my tasks because I’m super efficient with my time. I’m not paid for 8 hours a day, I’m paid for efficiency and knowledge. If I finish early each day, so be it.

Agreed. I sold my house and live in the car in the RR car park so that I can spend every working minute onsite. I feel I am all in and measuring up to the bar that JC and MD have set for us. My beautiful Dell. I love this company.

I know some people who are only staying so they can have a kid or another kid for the time off and plan to look for another job during maternity and paternity leave. I've heard this from 3 people that I've told to start looking for a new job. I wonder if that counts as quiet quitting?

So, get rid of them. It seems to me that since December a lot of high value productive people were terminated while Biz Ops flunkies remain.

Any decent management software should tell us who produces and who doesn’t. Quit with the management mind fu-k games
