Yes, there are many layoffs in the tech sector but there is still significant hiring going on as well. Musk couldn't recognize a good engineer if he or she was standing right in front of him. He is doing major damage control and all he sees right now are numbers (which do not look good). So enjoy the next few months with pay, and then jump into new work immediately. Most of you will do just fine.

The top 10-20% that do all the work are safe. The fluff, HR, non essential are getting axed.
Doubtful that many "good engineers" were axed. Maybe some useless middle managers. Someone has to keep the thing running
Do not come to Oracle, company is a mess. Find a tech co that will treat you with respect and dignity. Everyday at the big O could be the big one.. Never a good time for anyone to be let go. Musk & Ellison much be related, only thinking about themselves. Wish you all good health.
I interviewed at AWS a few months ago. Amazingly, 5 out of 6 of the interviewers were Indian. What are the odds??? Great if you are Indian. Not so much if you aren't.
Correction, if you're a good non-white-male engineer, you'll be able to find a new job quickly. Otherwise corporate diversity hiring preferences will likely slow their jobseeking.
