So they laid of the guy after 18 years who carried half of his team on his back but kept the one who's always on his phone? Makes no damn sense. I thought they cared about experience but clearly I was wrong. Now we're all walking on eggshells waiting for the next cuts. Shoulda seen this coming.

What did it get the guy with 18 years carrying people ?
That guy played the game for 18 years and the only thing you get is dollars for your work .
The guy did not get extra $$$ for carrying others , it’s just a JOB
It's also a revenge game
@OP Unfortunately, it's a money game not a skills game. Leaders need to hit a number.
They were probably earning more than those who were kept on. When I was let go in 2020, every foreign staff member in our department was retained—not because they were more qualified, but because many of them had joined Viacom under company sponsorship. That sponsorship limited their ability to negotiate salaries, locking them in at about half the pay of their American counterparts.
When David Friend was VP of news - a person interested in a top newsroom position got an interview for the position - and David Friend approached him and said: "thought you were gonna get passed me..." then made sure that person didn't get hired - because he would've been more popular with staff & do a better job - this is the culture of CBS. It's not hiring the best - it's hiring whoever isn't a threat
Why lay off the bottom feeders? They make great insurance because they can be fired anytime - the key is to lay off the top notch staffers because they are a threat to everybody else. Managers who get to choose layoffs will always choose the people that can do a better job and easily replace them... It's generally not dog eat dog with the union jobs - it's dogS eat dog - union riff raff will do their best to get rid of the better workers - because they are efficient, responsible and honest - unions are all about being inefficient & irresponsible & incompetent because honest normal people are a threat
@OP which one is always on his phone!?
rarely if ever makes any sense. infuriating honestly
yup, it's on par.
