Thread regarding Optum layoffs

For the person who said “you have mental health issues, get help”

I hope you sleep really well bullying people with mental health conditions and anxiety. I’m glad that you think it’s funny to come onto this site and bully people. Funny that you DONT KNOW said person is getting as much therapy and mental health help that they can, take days off at work due to crippling anxiety and sucidial thoughts, and constantly struggle.
You are a disgusting human being. Just because some people “have some depression and anxiety or ADHD” doesn’t mean you have ANY idea what someone else goes through. I’ve had someone at this job laugh and basically brush off my conditions and think it’s funny that I have to take days off but they have no idea how bad I struggle and how NOT normal it is just because they think they have ANY idea what it’s like to struggle. It’s not a game and it’s not funny this is someone’s life and daily struggle. You can go to absolute he-l.

@gc Optum owns the BH side of the biz. It has needled its way into every aspect of BH in the states & beyond; it has data on you & me & probably this thread. I point this out because if you have come to this thread as an employee, it is evident you already do not feel content at your job. Gardening variety of reasons there, but just a few layers of an onion deep and here it is:

People telling the truth are now called “annoying, disruptive, attention-getting” for simply stating what we collectively understand is part of our health. The brain is connected to the body, you see? Not so hard to figure out; why, practically every indigenous culture practices/practiced medicine in a holistic way since the dawn of time.

Meanwhile, folks are scratching their heads about the massive burnout occurring. The coocurring depression, anxiety etc. I’m doubling down for them to remind you those things are real, not new, and not “woke” in any framework you might have.

Whatever culture remains at ye old company & beyond has obliterated this crucial concept to happy, healthy living. We’re objectively failing in every known measure. Recent data shows U.S. citizens die an average of 8 years faster than everyone else in the world.

And no one at ye old company murmurs a word. It’s a house of cards stacked on a sinking ship. And while leadership bemoans the waves below disrupting their little pretend tower play time on the upper deck, ignorantly blissful of their sinking ship in a ocean of upcoming icebergs, the folks in the boiler room are long past the breaking point themselves.

We’ve taken on too much water; we can’t bail anymore. Getting people onto proverbial lifeboats is a real damn sh-t show. The impoverished are dying anyway. The fiddlers have begun their doleful tune for the screaming women & children in the upper decks while above them, playing cards are falling everywhere.

Murmur a word about what could have been done, what still can be done, what should be done, and it might be straight overboard with you. Such a toxic and deadly recipe for a mass drowning, don’t you think?

I hope you wake up before it’s too late. Or don’t. But, like it or not, we are on this catastrophic ship together. Some of it may be salvageable in time, but for today there’s one thing I know:

Any company that inflicts the kind of psychological te---r on people that I’ve described above - and who knows well and good what the state of the company is - is not okay on the BH front. It’s pathologically ill, and it’s about to sink like a stone in the ocean.

Best luck.
