Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

This is not a good time to be laid off

Amazon just froze hiring once again, Meta is about to start major layoffs, we all know what's going on with Twitter, hundreds (no, I'm not exaggerating) of other tech companies are laying off... Where exactly am I supposed to get a new job if I'm laid off when everybody in our field is reducing workforce?

Some lessons to keep top of mind:

  • Never trust a corporation
  • Always keep adding new skills while maintaining the existing ones
  • Build knowledge that’s valuable OUTSIDE of Intel as well as inside Intel
  • Build and Maintain your LinkedIn profile and contact list
  • Keep an electronic copy or derivative of your technical knowledge base (source code, documentation, etc.) for future reference
  • Make sure you do something significant and positive on your last day or two of work. It’ll help you leave with a more positive memory (or at least a less cr---y one)

Good luck!

Dont worry, you will be ok. At the end of the day, we are small guys. Most of us can barely afford a home, have an old car though we have plenty of education.
Believe in yourself. Your children will bring you luck!

Sometimes layoffs cant be avoided but it destroys people's lives and their families.
Being lay-ed off at 40, I cried like a child sometimes thro the night because I didnt know if my children would have health insurance after a year.

It took me 6 months to find a job and it turned out ok but incessant firing without any notice should be illegal!

Guys like Jobs and Musk are complete psychopaths!

Very interesting. Seems like that would work in a red state with low cost of living and low taxes. I don't see how that ever works in California.

add more sources of income and start cutting non needed expenses, I have started uber and renting my car on Turo incase I get laid off. Must diversify your income to pay your bills. Making intel money on a single source of income seems to be a thing of the past in the near future I think.

Just believe in yourself man. There are thousands of other tech companies, you don't have to be in big names like Amazon, Meta etc

Still lots of hiring going on. A lot of big tech has been bloated for a long time. The is the first time in a long time there’s belt tightening across the industry. If you’re skills are current, and you can highlight your strengths you’ll land a job, but it might take a few months instead of a few weeks
