Schwab Buyout Packages?

Someone I know left the company just before the major layoffs, having requested and received a buyout. He spent the summer with his children and later secured another job in the fall.

I haven’t been able to find much information about these buyout packages. Has anyone received one and is able to share any insights on the size? I’d assume they’re smaller than standard severance but still preferable to leaving without any compensation.

Why leave if you can get a package or parachute?

We give executives millions to then give them millions when they leave.

If you are unhappy, why do you need Schwab to buy you out? Seems like if it’s so bad you wouldn’t need to be paid to leave, you can always leave on your own.

They don't buy you out for you to quit and if you actually ask about stuff like that you have put yourself front and center at the top of the list! Beware they might find something about your performance to fire you instead of lay you off!

I don't know about buyouts but I've known a few people to volunteer for a layoff. Got a severance bump to get them into retirement early. Also, made it so someone who needed their job got to keep it (hopefully).
Normally, though, Schwab will find a way to boot you out for zero dollars. Think Trump background checks..."looking for illegals".

I’d take whatever they told you with a grain of salt. When I asked for a buyout I was told Schwab used to offer them but it was often the best employees who volunteered so they stopped offering it. If your friend got a buyout there is more to the story than you’re being told.

Buyouts are rare and handled quietly. Requests likely result in PIP or constructive discharge. With the right circumstances it can happen at higher levels, however.

Schwab resists VBO programs and relies on bullying and PIPs. The good news is the company often opens opportunities for labor claims and attorneys will get settlements. It's just a numbers game as few bother or are convinced they are actually a bad employee.

Hahaha nope this does not happen. If you indicate at all that you want out, they will PIP you immediately so they can fire you without paying.
