The lesson I learned a long time ago is that the most important thing is to keep your skills current and then it is easy to find a job even when the situation on the job market is not ideal. In general, I think that the majority here are worried about layoffs only because they know that their skills have atrophied here over time. Isn't that right?

Making stuff up, using the right fonts in powerpoint and schmoozing with TAs in the cafeteria are the most vital skills at Intel, even if they are liabilities elsewhere
The PowerPointers and BSers at large have always managed to survive, despite providing near-zero value. Why would the 2022 situation be different?

I think only an Intel employee could find this as hilarious as it is
Part of your job is to keep up with modern skills. If you only know how to make Intel PPTs and play their political games, then those are your skills. Best of luck.
If you bank on just working at Intel forever then it may work for some and be bad for others when layoffs come, get you something to fall back on. I did and left Intel and is dealing with less stress and a better atmosphere of not worrying about being laid off because of poor past decisions catching up to them. IPhone ring a bell 🔔

All other skills can be taught?
Im honestly shocked at how many people's hands are only capable of typing and moving a mouse around nowadays.
Be capable of both and you'll never worry too much about finding work.. 👍
employers are looking most at soft skills these days. you either have them or you dont. all other skills can be taught. employers know this.
