“ you can deep six 50% of SMG because they actually don't sell anything.”
Yeah neither do the order takers that call themselves “sales”
In a bad quarter, SMG managed to get Intel meet the forecasts. SMG leadership is ok. They just need to cut down overheads, heavily.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one... B2B marketing? what the he-l? Intel makes processors sold to PC and server companies. Having a big fat bloated budget to 'market' to businesses that are indirect customers is terrible ROI. Save all the marketing dollars / HC and focus on building a great product priced correctly and you can deep six 50% of SMG because they actually don't sell anything.
How many people are roughly in SMG?
Light bulbs, dish soap, printers and now processors... Selling is selling and with a job title like chief commercial officer I have every bit of confidence he can pull us out of this nose dive.
@new+1jxhIhI8 It’s not just marketing. His comments on selling shows he’s shockingly out of touch. The whole meeting was filled with buzzwords and no real strategy
I'm not at all sure that the SMG leader has even the slightest clue as to what Marketing actually is. The more he talks the more shocked I get at how little he knows.
If you're in Marketing and you have any years put in such that your package is 50+ weeks, I'd advise getting the he-l out. Even if you survive the initial cuts, the landscape you'd be facing appears to be bleak, at best.
How does this save 3B and 10B annually soon.
More layoffs at far large scale across all organizations is a certainty.
Look around people buying computers or using cloud or feeling the need to spend money when inflation is 7%+ and interest rates climbing and housing collapsing!
Recession and layoffs baby!
What! SMG has 10000 employees? If 1000 is only 10%. Beggars belief! Seems like Intel never got rid of PSO's legacy.
Will be around 10.6% reduction. Not the 20% reported in press.
Does this amount to 20% as Bloomberg predicted? Or much lesser…
