Are the plans to build new building still full steam ? Why can't we move outside 610 loop? Trafficisalways bad coming in or out. Something on Beltway 8 south of I10 will be really great and reduce driving time for majority of the employees.

Ask legacy APC staff about the Advanced Analytics floor... Silicon Valley inspired...Isolation pods, pool table, capuchino station, giant flat screen monitors... Ask VH for that!
@sv you have no idea what you are talking about.
Love the idea of sleeping pods.
What about the old ConocoPhillips complex. We could try that again. Perhaps Hawaiian shirt guy could come back for a special assignment.
If a new building is built you can say bye bye to your hybrid schedule...
Whatever they decide, I just wish they'd collect feedback from employees before deciding it. Maybe take another one of those employee surveys, like the one they went over in the last town hall.
Woodlands also has more affordable housing just notth in Conroe, Willis, and Huntsville. There is no benefit to having an office in the city. Most business is done electronically rather than sending documents by currier or having to meet face to face.
@jy Good points.
Such forward thinking you lack. APC's campus had two large modern towers, access to all things attractive to the Woodlands, next to the I45 and Hardy toll...Plus... the room to add two more buildings... How about work on your stock price instead adding to the debt.
Greenway is outdated. We might not need a shiny new building, but Greenway 5 is a dump. There is probably a lot of nice empty buildings downtown which is easier to get to than Greenway with mass communting with buses and car pooling. The Galleria is nice, but just like Greenway for commuting. I have worked downtown and at Greenway 5 and the downtown is an easier commute to by far in my mind. The Woodlands is nice as well and has plenty of space for large meetings, but the majority of the employees don't live out there. When we were going to move to the old Conoco campus I think we did a poll and most employees were in the Katy area or south of I-10.
A new building is a waste of money just like putting the company logo on baseball players uniforms is a waste of money. We don’t sell gasoline on the retail market so there is no value in attracting consumers to our fuel brand and no intelligent person would buy the stock just because of the baseball uniform. When will this company get back to cost cutting.
The Company is so fat right now they need trimming. After trimming they should fit into GW5. A new building is a waste of money and purely for EGO.
I don’t know if it makes economic sense to build or not. OxyChem owned its headquarters in Dallas for years. The sale of that building was prompted partly by the move of corporate employees from Dallas to Houston and partly to reduce costs. I think the company was also not interested in owning big office real estate at that time.
One thing I do know is the decision will not be based on if or if not the company is “in the big leagues” or if it is “even a competent independent”. Those statements are just insults not arguments. Tell me why or why not the company should move into a new building based upon valid business reasons. No one is interested on what you think the company deserves or doesn’t deserve.
The Company is once again thinking they are in the big leagues and need their own building. They are not a major or even a competent independent and deserve about the same type of office that Devon has. Greenway plaza is an upgrade for where they should really be. They should stay where they are.
I10 and the Beltway is a shorter drive to/from the Woodlands than Greenway area.
I10 and the Beltway?...That's one way to get rid of the Woodlands staff...
Constructing an Oxy office building at Greenway is not a good idea until the debt can be reduced.
Last VH meeting it sounded like all is going forward, but years out. The building sounds like it will be really nice, but yes down in Greenway. She even said people from The Woodlands would be working there. When I worked out Greenway and commuted from The Woodlands I just road The Woodlands Express (bus). It takes a good chunk out of your day on the bus and waiting for buses, but I just made it work and I live in the back of The Woodlands. From what I understood the building would not even be started until 2027, so I would think 2029 would be when it is open for business. So much can change between know and then with the company being sold, layoffs, retirements, etc. If it was ready to go in 2027 then I might worry a little more, but for those buying a home too far outside say 99 I would buy near a commuter route like The Woodlands Express. In my experience it is about a 3 hour commute total for a round trip on the bus from The Woodlands. I use to car pool as well and we would get in the HOV and that was better than the bus, but it is much safer on the bus and you can sleep, read, work, etc. They need to run some van pools from The Woodlands and they will help as well. Get in early and get out of Greenway by 3:00 or 3:30 and that would work.
What about just moving everything to the Woodlands. Or they could revisit moving it to Dallas/Fort Worth.
@OP I hope they accommodate suggestions. I had requested sleeping pods on each floor to provide rest to tired workers.
