Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Melville Blues

What happened to the acknowledgment, appreciation, and celebration of hard over the top work? I just wrapped up a significant project and by Monday morning by 9:30 it seems like the focus shifted entirely to what needs to be done next. I would have loved a little thank you for staying late, my extra efforts or for those Friday 4 PM meetings. After putting in so much effort and dedication, it feels like my hard work is already behind us. I’ve truly never worked so hard during my time here and have been involved in some important and visible projects. I think I might take a sick day soon just to recharge! This place is out of control!!!

Acknowledgement is important, especially when annual salary increases are below inflation even at their policy max and compensation continues to remain low. Companies that don't recognize their employees' success in any manner tend to lose their best talent sooner than they'd like.

I am no longer proud to say I work for this company.

@uggg Did you go above and beyond your job description or take on new responsibilities to cover for someone who was recently laid off or was slacking? I understand you seem deflated, but it’s important to remember that this is a job, and we are paid to work and perform well.

How upsetting that your success couldn’t be celebrated appropriately. What is the incentive to work hard anymore? I see so many of my coworkers suffering from the “Melville blues” too.
