It is impossible to talk about working at Qualcomm in general, since so much depends on which department someone is in. What do you think is the worst department?

Qualcomm
QCT Multimedia Video Systems Team in Qualcomm, Sh---y people are directors and senior directors, Dates managers become dr/sr.dr.
@eksi Qi Gong Master?
@eksi in the same vein as earlier comment about PMIC systems, which senior director or principal knows his stuff in design?
MST is straight up horrible. Basically a series of silos of all the various ethnicities in South Asia. Tons of H1Bs, excruciating work environment, rampant nepotism and not much work that can be done from home.
@vudu, the decent ones are not going to get promoted that fast, they do legit work not yak all day at meetings to gain visibility. The ones left maybe Stormy and Lowrider, Bashful Scarface and HeroA bailed to big Papa G. The crusaders who are making the last stand are far and few....
@cfjv, PMIC design is not any better, that egoistic Bread Wa---r knows zilch about stuffs. Newly minted Sr Dr SkiingCow Joe is not any better. Feels like an old white boys club who refuse to die. But there are good smart worker bees there too, the new promoted Italian dude is awesome. Qi Gong Master is always humble and amicable. Always 2 sides to a coin.
I am surprised you guys started to realize that the PMIC group is basically a b-m crack. It has been like this for years! At least people started to speak up and not afraid anymore.
MST (Modem Systems Test). Why do we need bunch of VPs, Senior Director, Directors in Modem Systems Test? They don't add much value to QCT.
Who is smartest VP and Senior Director in PMIC systems?
QCT Quality - bunch of secretaries writing reports no value added !!
seems like a lot of people are dissatisfied with PMIC systems. How is PMIC design compared to systems?
I don’t know about other departments but it will be hard to beat QCA. Tons of pointless brute force work and people taken for granted
Regarding the post about QGOV... it's half right. You need to be a US citizen to work in QGOV so no H1B's... but there are quite a few Asian and Hispanic engineers in QGOV so I wouldn't say almost the engineering staff is "almost 100% white".
The other comment is dead on. The politics are insane. It's toxic.
QCA, QCA, QCA, QCA, QCA,QCA, QCA, QCA
It's full of politics.
Bluetooth in QCA
Oh WTF, that Crispy Rapper of PMIC is a Sr Dr. He knows nothing about power management. Looks like the empire has decided, the Toddy replacement in 5 years had been named. There is no force left, Master Yoda is dead. Light saber down the worst department. In my 15+ yrs. Time to GTFO
@7nut HR only protects the company interests. Whistle blowers are either moved or eventually terminated if it can lead to litigation.
@7hdb, what they/xma are doing is not even what a simple human should treat each other, shocked that no one reports to HR. Oh I forgot HR's job is to protect people like them. With ridiculous atrriction in that dept, CA needs to perform some reduction in man handling by directors/VPs. Better to GTFO than to wait for inaction.....
Ya mean that psychopath Chinese Director? That caveman roams the lab thinking he is some ancient China emperor, asking d-mb fxxx questions in meetings thinking he is Elon MAsk.
I agree with others on the PMIC group. Your skills will go down the toilet if you work for that group. The nastiness is coming from top down. You could end up being targeted by one of those psychopath managers. Get out as soon as you can.
Qgov is the worst. Extremely political and engineers are nearly 100% wypipo.
QCA is so bad. Failed and canceled projects, lost customers, all the politics internally. Nepotism, lying, backstabbing is daily life. Look at the management and TL to engineers count ratio. How many people are doing the actual work instead of playing politics? One would think given the location, engineers would have an easier time switching jobs so management would treat them with respect. No!! Management and TL's treat one's good attitude and hardwork as an indication on how much this person can be further pushed and manipulated.
PPAT is the worst team. 15 people quit their job since last year, the worst managers, only engineers work hard like slaves.
Second on PMIC, great hardworking peons, but certain VP and his inflated title riding the wave jesters need to go, also the dude who barely walks.
Where is they guy that talks about oranges? Need his motivational essays. Maybe he can head over to the meta forum and provide some inspiration over there.
QCA for sure
I think you're misinterpreting what retention bonus really means. It doesn't necessarily mean "We (management) think you're awesome, please don't quit". It means, "We (management) know we've screwed up, please don't quit. Will a bribe help?"
PMIC has been the worst consistently for year hands down.
It all depends on the manager. QCT can be bad but some managers make the experience great. Worst manager should be the title
Definitely QCT and QCA
Regional CE teams are slaves
There is a standard answer, if management think your department not worth the retention bonus, you are indeed in the disposable org
