It would be interesting if we could have some analysis of how many Citrix employees face problems finding a new job because their skills are outdated. I personally believe that this is the primary reason why some are still here, that is, a much more frequent reason than competition or age. What do you think?

I don't see how working for Citrix is a red flag. That is crazy.
In what way, shape or form is a company going private and/or having some negative press a red flag for recruiters/potential future employers? Unless you're very senior management, absolutely no one would think that you are responsible for anything significant - good or bad - at your current employer.
Based on all the negative press over the last several months, having Citrix on your CV is already a significant 'red flag' for a tech recruiter. Besides, customers have been reporting a decline in support, and their need to find alternatives to CSG ASAP. It's really bad.
And all the posts from the remaining employees also contribute to the company's bad reputation. Telling the world that you're not engaged in your job and that you're just waiting for your big severance payout makes us all sound like a bunch of deadbeats.
Please stop. Those of us who want to leave need to end this as soon as possible.
Also I agree, the posts about Citrix bring outdated tech is complete bs. My new job will be using almost the exact same tech stack, plus my new company literally uses some Citrix products. It's definitely still a good point to have on your CV.
I work in tech and had no issue finding a job paying considerably more than I made at Citrix. Applied to 4 companies and got 2 offers. Might be a different story for other areas though
No time better than the present to start learning some new languages, etc, if you feel you're truly "obsolete." Most, if not all, of what employers are looking for nowadays has literal tons of online training resources available to learn from. Linkedin also has a bunch of online training for just about everything I can think of...
Honestly, I do feel that I'm suck in this job until the economy recovers, or some miracle happens and I'm able to land a new gig. All along I thought that my time experience at Citrix would enable me to easily find a better tech job somewhere else.
But after many interviews and weeks of CV re-writes I'm not optimistic. So, it's true, some of us are stuck here because we don't have other options. I'm really trying to stay upbeat, but I feel I've wasted a decade waiting and hoping in vain. I know it's my fault. Truly, I thought my skills were competitive, but I've discovered that much of what I know, about the cloud in particular, is viewed by employers as being obsolete.
CSG is contractually obligated to honor Citrix severance policy. It is explicit in the merger agreement, which is publicly available. Anyone saying that there is no money for severance is LYING. You can guess their motivation. Hint: their noses are very brown and smelly.
Some people around here sure are invested in getting other people to walk away from their severance packages. Wonder why?
The severance budget has not "run out." That is a lie.
I will also stay until my sevy package is given economy is in the toilet and i will wait it out.
I came in hot from the market 30+ years ago with BASIC and wrote some ki---r DOS stuff. Just kidding, thought i'd wake up with a funny this morning. Despite all the malarkey from ignorant people here there's a vast pasture of large enterprises that use Citrix. I mean "SH**T" most find it hard to retire or renew their Citrix environments but keep it well maintained enough like OS2 and AS400, i'm sure most will find employment without a problem staying FU%^#((ING positive man!
Only the worst employees hang around 'waiting for severance'...and the sad thing is they probably won't get it as the budget has already run out. Enjoy being put on a performance improvement plan and eventually fired. You're better off leaving now.
Some people stay because... many reasons. Everyone has their own circumstances. I want my severance package, and I am ready to wait them out. I worked hard, had to put up with a lot from some toxic leadership and incompetent, malicious middle management, but overall loved my role and the opportunities I had. I deserve every dollar in that package, and will get it before I leave. I will also let some people know what I think of them, the little sh--s.
To the contrary of many posts on many threads on this site over the last year, the "people stay at Citrix because all they know is old stuff" is completely bogus. Lots of sour grapes from former employees long since gone, others who were never employees in the first place, and a few malcontents still on staff. The posts that "no one will hire a Citrite because they've been there too long, they ask why I stuck with a losing company", all of that is pure fantasy.
What skills have deteriorated so badly that you can't find work in the industry? The answer? None. Are there some software guys that might need to brush up on the latest and greatest? Probably, but that goes for most people doing a job search.
If you read comments on these threads, they make it sound like Citrix is employing FORTRAN programmers or something.
I doubt anyone who wants to leave now will have trouble finding a another job. Some of us might just have a high tolerance for putting up with cr-p, just don't want to go through starting all over again at a new company where it will take years to ramp up, have RSU's they're gambling on being around to collect, and many other reasons.
