Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I’ve recently moved on

It’s a lower-paying job, but also far less stressful. There are no layoffs in sight (at least for now), but more importantly - there’s no constant collective anxiety. I don’t know how it will all work out in the end, but God, just the change of scenery has done wonders for my mental and physical health. When someone stays too long in an environment like the one at Dell in recent years, they completely lose perspective.

I'm in the same boat. It's a little simpler.

The best part? Not having to be asked to "kindly" do something 12 times a day.

"I’ve got bills to pay and mouths to feed."

You and every other person. Since the stakes are high i wouldn't trust my "mouths to feed" on a dell pay cheque

As a provider you seek stability, reliability, and prosperity. Dell offers none of that.

'I’ve seen people leave chasing something better, only to come crawling back six months '

so dont try to do better cause you might fail?
very inspirational.

They failed cause they circled back to dell.

I’ve seen a lot of people leave Dell and absolutely thrive. Most of them walked away for the same reasons — they were fed up, stuck in dead-end roles, and their health was suffering from the stress (high cortisol, diabetes, all of it). Some of them went on to become millionaires because they finally recognized their own value.

That said, not everyone who left landed on their feet. I’ve seen people leave chasing something better, only to come crawling back six months or a year later. And in some cases, they came back to Dell more than once — and got booted out every time. So yeah, a lot of it comes down to who you report to and what kind of job you have at Dell.

As for me? I’ve eaten my share of sh-t. I’ve worked under narcissists and straight-up tyrants. But I never gave a damn — I’ve got bills to pay and mouths to feed.

Agree 100%. I was at Dell more than 20 years. Since leaving, I’ve dramatically improved my health. Dell was an absolutely wretched hellhole , and the future looks dark for employees. Clinging to a job at Dell is a poor decision. It really is better outside.

wishing you all the best in this new chapter.

It does sounds like the change has already made a real difference for your mental and physical health, and that’s so important. sometimes just stepping away from the constant pressure gives us back a sense of clarity and calm we didn’t even realize we’d lost.

i hope this new role continues to bring you peace, perspective, and the space to breathe again... you've made a strong and thoughtful move
