Chico’s eliminated Assistant manager positions in underperforming stores. They just called you up read you a letter and you were immediately unemployed. Didn’t matter how many years you had in. The new company is heartless and all about big profit. The caring attitude of the company towards its people is gone. Now it’s all pushy sales tactics and rising prices.

Stores under $1,000,000 have lost their ASMs and some stores don't even have full-time leads allowed anymore at WHBM.
Just saw this on linkedin. Apparently, Knitwell is now trying to combine all of its brands like Ann, Talbots, Loft, and Chicos under one experimental store that's opening one location in Gurnee, Illinois. They're hiring full-time sm as well as full-time asm. Here's the description under the asm full-time description: Off The Rax is a new retail experience bringing together beloved brands such as Ann Taylor, LOFT, Talbots, Chico’s and more — all under one roof. From polished classics to versatile essentials, Off The Rax makes style feel modern, inclusive and accessible — always at prices you won’t believe. It’s where fashion authority meets everyday value.

What does everyone think of this? I think it'll fail as it comes across as something like a Kohls and Jcpenny.
I still see full time asm jobs on knitwell group's career website. shrugs shoulders So either it was underperforming stores and/or certain areas in the US or no one has removed those job postings from the website. I went into my former job at Ann Taylor Outlet and I found out that asm got laid off, and the section (there are two sections that are separate from each other, with one being really bad with empty stores while 2 is busier and doesn't have as many empty stores) of the mall that my former job is has so many stores closing due to Tanger's high lease, so foot traffic is really, really, really bad.
I don't think it was just underperformed stores. Many ASM positions were cut. Stores can have PT sales leads but ASM positions are in danger.
There were ASM layoffs almost 10 years ago before the new company took over but.. ASM's were needed so positions were filled again.
That's horrible. I would think the sm would be able to demote the ft asm to pt sales leads. I guess not.
