Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Coffee Badging

I was speaking with a friend who mentioned that many people are still coffee badging, and their managers are okay with it. I wonder if any measures are being taken to address this or if people will continue to do it. By the way, I would love to try it myself.

@11j or go the direction (that they’ve continually shown) of doing things that actively bad for most employees.

I'd bet money that this 5/day/week RTO gets reversed very soon. Doesn't look good for Dell when they just got blasted on BI... and the Tell Dell results aint gonna be pretty either lol

I live 45 mins from the office and not ONE person on my team lives in my city so, I have zero incentive to stay. Why be on meetings via zoom/TEAMS in the office when I can do that at home lol?
I make the drive, badge and go home to my dog. Sure, it's almost 2 hours of my day with driving but, all they track is badge swipes so who gaf. Leave my house at 11am and am back by almost 1pm.

@dk this sounds great theoretically and i have been doing this thus far in Ireland. However, i have been told, either come in or face disciplinary action, and that the original contract states that due to "business needs" my remote work can be revoked. So my options as i see it, is either do what I'm told and go in, or be placed on a PIP as I'm not going in.... Of course i could look elsewhere, but when you have a family to support and a mortgage to pay, options become very slim. So again in theory, it sounds great, but this is the reality of what is real.

This hippie dippy drivel might work for most folks under 30 or over 60. The rest of us got bills to pay.

They told us remote work was the future. Now they’ve pulled it back, because control feels safer to them than trust.

But here’s the truth: We don’t have to go back. We don’t have to sell your peace for a paycheck. We don’t have to accept a life that makes our soul shrink.

If you’re tired of being lied to, stop playing along. Start walking in truth.
Say no. Say enough. Say, not like this.

When the people stop complying,
the system can’t stand.

Anyone that is cofee badging not getting credit? Several of my colleagues are claiming that you need to be connected to the office network for at least 4 hours for the badge swipe to count.

Coffee badging until they give up on this dum--ss rto. Doesn't matter at all. I dont bring my laptop in, and I only spend <10 seconds on campus everyday.

You are not alone. A lot of people are done pretending this system makes sense. Coffee badging isn’t rebellion, it’s survival in a culture that rewards fake presence over real impact and treats grown adults like children who need to be watched.

We’re not cogs. We’re human beings. Forcing people back just to prove control isn’t leadership, it’s insecurity disguised as policy. And let’s stop pretending our jobs are more important than they are. They’re not.

This company will replace any one of us tomorrow. And MD? Just another man trying to build a legacy off people too afraid to question it.

One day, all of this fades, the metrics, the meetings, the fake smiles. What remains is whether we actually lived. Whether we loved. Whether we stood up for truth or just went along with what was easy.

That’s what matters. Not badge swipes.

Take off the shackles. Let go of the fear. You weren’t born to survive meetings or live for metrics. You were made to live, to take risks, to play in the rain like a child, to remember what freedom feels like. Go be free. <3
