Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

This could be very much intentional

Letting us wait this long to find out about layoffs feels deliberate. People are on edge, and some have had enough, they’re already leaving. The more who walk away, the less the company has to spend on severance. Something tells me they’ll milk that for all it’s worth, for as long as they can.

Great idea, ensure that your few remaining skilled people leave while you get to keep the people with no options. Another brilliant strategy from Intel megaminds.

Intel has n-e-v-e-r completed a layoff quickly. Intel announces their intention before they even plan it out so it always takes months. Smart companies plan it out, announce it and then execute it quickly.

You can bet that upper management is in the fight of their careers to retain groups and projects, so are in a state of conflict with each other.

The losers of that effort will exit the company, followed by mass terminations of their direct reports.

All the tricks they have used in the past are apparently being denied this time, particularly the reduction of contractors, only to bring right back once the restructuring is done.

If you dislike this, imagine what they are dealing with as they lose what took years to build up.

They should be gone and the low value teams also need to go. Where the workers add value, they will find new jobs and be better off for it.

I've been at Intel over 10 years and have gone through the layoff cycles. I was laid off once and re-hired. This is by far the worst handling of the situation by upper management that I have seen. Zero communication, zero respect for the workers. I'm told I'm safe so I'll keep taking the paycheck, but I have nothing but disgust for the new CEO.

Severance this time is 1 months pay + 1 week per YOS, max at 20 additional weeks.

You give them too much credit. Yes, on the surface it appears to be a master plan to keep the masses in fear, oppressive working conditions, non stop backstabbing and self preservation mode. But, as with the products and the roadmap they cannot execute on anything. The delay in layoffs is just another example of laziness, indecision, and complete ineptness. What should have been cleared up months ago drags on…. and on…. and on.
