My business unit has seen pretty regular layoffs the last 12 months.. There appears to be no rhyme or reason as to who is getting selected. Sometimes it is a small team of 3-4,, while other times it is just an individual contributor or manager.. One thing I have noticed is it is rarely,, if ever someone useless (I.e. a bad employee who does little to nothing)..

@c2 I too saw people who had friends in Mgmt who protected them from layoffs.
I remember a dept which was outsourced and all the workers let go.
The crazy thing is the higher ups kept the AVP for another 5 years by
creating phony job
@OP the useless workers keep their jobs because they went behind your back and took credit for your work. These people are the most toxic in the company but are able to fool the right people that they are amazing. These toxic workers could be a team member or someone in a management position. They'll scratch and crawl to move up the corporate ladder and throw others under the bus for their mistakes. I had former colleagues that ignore corporate policies or loose the company millions, but somehow haven't lost their jobs and promoted to management positions.
India better be ready to support themselves. NA will not be around for concierge service!
Over the last 20 years the company has let go many of brightest and hardest working
employees.
