If I’m going to be laid off, then say it. At least then I won’t be stuck in this damned limbo, wondering every day. I feel like Schrodinger’s employee - both working and not working until Intel finally opens the layoffs envelope.
You want to cut 20k people? Fine. Then do it, so we can all move on, one way or another.

I think you have been too comfortable with your job, and that is the ONLY thing I can get from your comment. Otherwise, you would have been in a better job somewhere else.
You need to be excited about a strong job search. Don't let this beat you
When serving the Wallstreet Masters announcing layoffs is the only, near-term good news to satisfy them. That, and the 50% margin requirement. Best of luck! I believe it will only translate into buying more time and securing Executive bonuses
Once again I’m staying. I give it a year before I’ll have to leave because the environment is impossible to get work done in. The 2026 layoffs are just a year away!
I’m being totally serious when I say, find another job ASAP. You’re either OK with potentially being let go every year or you’re not. I worked at Intel for more than a decade. Like you, I got tired of hearing something was happening and then waiting so I found another opportunity. I have a much higher salary now, and I’m happier at my job. I wasn’t going to be laid off, just couldn’t stand the waiting around and lack of transparency. Even if you’re not let go, working there after the massive round of lay offs that are coming will be no fun. I really want to be super positive for Intel right now, but the buzzards are circling to eat the scraps of whatever doesn’t get flushed down the drain.
People are talking as if NOT being laid off is a bliss. The less people remain within Intel the bigger the $hitshow will be with the upcoming reorgs, project changes, management changes etc. The remaining people will struggle every day to keep their head above the water. This will be like torture. If you are laid off, you at least have the prospect of a better professional future at some point.
You won’t have to wait much longer
@ak yes it really matters if you need the paychecks and benefits. Your next job could be quite a way into the future in this economy.
so tired of waiting.
OP, if you survive this round of layoffs the next one will be right behind it. Good jobs are getting hard to find. You should have started looking a few rounds ago. If you had you wouldn't be here expressing your frustrations.
Does it really matter if you are part of the 20k getting fired now?
If you are not, you will be part of the rest sooner or later, so get off your axx and find your next job.
You mean get the trolling over with?
@a7 you assume that's really how the layoff selection is going to work? Ya know whole groups are about to be axed, no matter how well folks performed.
The odds are 1 out of 5 are getting laid off. Now you need to tell yourself if you are the bottom 20% of your team / group and if you are not then stop worrying
It could be - you just need to make the choice to walk.
Or don't.
It really is that simple.
Whining about it is just trying to add drama to the situation and get sympathy.
Wash.. Rinse.. Repeat
it's like the movie the Edge of Tomorrow
Live Die Repeat
if you want to win this war, you have to die everyday
Don’t “wish”.
Take some control of your life.
Have some kind of agency.
These whiny posts are kind of pathetic.
Well OP, it's not over today, just like it hasn't been over since this downturn started back 3 years ago..
How many cycles now, is it 4 ?
and after this current cycle, there will be another one and then another and another etc..
Wash.. Rinse.. Repeat
