Thread regarding Disney layoffs

So sorry for everyone affected

This is a terrible time to lose a job. I hope everyone finds something better - and soon. As a previous poster mentioned, it stings even more given the strong earnings report. It almost feels like they don’t want us to share in the profits we helped generate. At least the C-suite and shareholders will be taken care of. It’s all honestly disgusting.

As a shareholder of Disney, I look at reduction of costs as a way to increase my value in the company. If the shares drop because we, as shareholders, do not believe the the trajectory of the company, and believe in its leadership to increase my value, then I sell it and find a company that will do that for me. By reduction of costs, my value goes up and I will continue to hold the stock.

That being said....

Yes it totally su-ks getting the notice. In my 40+ year career, I've been laid off 3 times, and left due to companies shutting down operations. The first time was a su---r punch to the gut. I'd given 14 years, now it was different times back then. It was right after labor day, and they paid my insurance and salary through the end of the year. So I did find a new job 2 months later. I would never expect that again. Each day I do my best possible job, and at the end of the day I hang it up, leaving it all at work. And start the next day with the idea that this might be my last day.

Now I am sorry to hear about any layoffs. Disney is a large organization, and sometimes its found that you can do better with less. It sure doesn't help with those who did get notice, but hopefully everyone bounces back quick.
