Has anyone else heard whispers of a full return to office mandate? Supposedly senior leadership is not happy with work from home.

I’m reading this post and all I can think of is what a bunch of whiny and entitled executives.
The company reported records profits every quarter and it has nothing to do with where people’s desks are situated.
When I am in the office I am going to start taking all my teams calls from the bathroom stall and rocket launch farts into my laptop mic.
What are tarsands? Are the anywhere near the oilsands?
I’m reading this post and all I can think is I’ve never seen a more whiny bunch of people.
I’ve heard the opposite, they don’t plan to change it. They know how much employees value WFH, also, most of the industry peers still have the hybrid model. No one wants to work in a demoralizing call centre 5 days a week.
Maybe if the coffee in Calgary wasn’t like tarsands oil people would spend more time on the floors and want to be in the office
Get back full time. Costco is also open on weekends don't worry :)
@OP why would they be happy with no one to act superior to for 2 days. I achieve my highest productivity on Wednesdays and Fridays, when I work from home. The absence of distractions—no side conversations, no gossip, no constant "help me with this"—allows for productive work.
As long as you get your work done is key. Those who will get promoted will get promoted as promotion is not based on merit or competence in this company
The number one factor, indeed the ONLY factor that is looked at when the layoff scythe swings is how much you earn. The more you earn, the more likely you are to get let go. This is why so very few get to retire from ENB, they start earning very well and become targets for the scythe and get hit before they can retire. Laid off at 50+ years old? ENB doesn't care, you are just a number and can be replaced by an intern earning a quarter of what they were paying you. We are all grist for the mill...........
The unseen unheard worker is first on the layoff list, followed by the open active high achiever.
There is no discrimination, nor does being a a role that focuses on collaboration guarantee you a spot at this company.
Wake up - you are number. This is capitalism and all these matters is how much money is being made at executive level. If you think management values you then you are living in a fantasy world.
Full return to the office is fine, if they would give us an office that is productive to work in, but many of us work in a call center, but don’t do work that’s conducive to a call center environment.
And to the the poster that said collaboration is the path to success, agreed, but when the people that you collaborate with are in many different offices across two countries, what good is being in the office in a distracting environment for collaboration?
true...& everyone knows layoffs are coming
Isolation by choice when in the office works for interchangeable cogs in the machine. But as soon as you start doing meaningful work that doesn't come out of a procedures manual, collaboration is the path to success.
If you want to approach it from a more survivalist bent, the unseen, unheard worker is probably first on the block when layoffs loom.
Were they really successful with the last mandate?
Unless you’re trying to advance to upper VP or EVP level, the office is a waste of time. Much more productive at home away from all the gossip, BS.
When I go to the office I do my best to avoid people. I’ve even thought of wearing one of the those dog harnesses that say ‘Not Friendly’ to ensure that I don’t have to participate in excessive drivel speak.
