Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Weird Activity on this board over past weekend

First time poster. Years long lurker. Felt compelled after seeing many posts removed over weekend and posts complaining about posts being removed also removed. The one that caught my eye was in regard to a certain group (defect metrology) doing day-trading during office hours. I work IT and checked out of curiosity. I can confirm there is unusual activity there. And that will be reviewed and handled accordingly internally. But then why was it removed here? What rules did these posts violate? These posts being censored here seems very odd as they are not violating any of TheLayoffs states rules.

There have long been rumors of a crack day trader in Defect metrology... can you get a line on his trades and positions?... I have some cash on the sidelines and want to mirror his moves.

You just seem to fail to understand what NLRA protected speech means. If your employer disciplines or fires you because of a work-related conversation with a peer in person or on social media, chances are you have a valid claim for retaliation or interference with protected rights. It's considered a protected activity, even if it happened during office hours.

Some types of conversations might not be protected, but it's often hard to determine which ones are and which one aren't. Most employers are aware of this, which is why none of them bothers to check ,so stop with a fear-mongering and stupid conspiracy theories.

@gz “a little detective work”…does that mean calling the Indians at build.ai?

There is no spoon.

@gz
They very much can see if your device is accessing a po-n or gambling site….. and they can determine what device it is …. Then a little detective work and they can tell whose device it is. Come on man…. You work for Intel. This isn’t rocket science

@gh “bouncing off of their hubs” and collecting device — let alone personally — identifiable information are two very different things. If you’re on cell network, not using a company device, and no apps installed, they can’t see anything.

That’s what ChatGPT said at least.

@ga

No it’s not. What do your phone is using to access various systems? Even when not logged in officially it’s still bouncing off the nearest hubs etc…. Their hubs…. Come on man you had to know this

Do robots get distracted by po-n during work hours? Do they have an attitude? Do they need a potty break?

@b4 Or on company time.

Using your phone at work is easily tracked by monitoring of cell signals, even more so if you have the work app installed.

Try working from work instead.

@aq If you are using company resources or spending a lot of time on the internet during working hours, then you are subject to termination.

You can act like it is a right or something, but it is not.

@ae, I would love to see them try to fire me for checking these pages. I have the right to discuss wages and working conditions with my peers (even online) under federal law (NLRA), and no employer cannot legally retaliate against me for this.

Some posters on this board have repeatedly warned others not to spend time on this site while at work or on the network.

They are known.

Thing is, in most cases it won't get them terminated individually, but when it comes to these mass terminations there is no way to tell what data HR provides to upper management.

Not a smart time to be stupid.

You work in IT and still haven’t realized those deleted posts were just some troll messing with you? No wonder we’re in such a mess.
