Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Why Hiring H1/ H4s when college grads are not getting jobs

Why is citi hiring contractors from H1s and obsolete H4 visa people when college grads are not getting g jobs . Please probe you recent hires and contractors hired from subvendors. Please hire recent college hires fresh from College . They do better job than H4s and H1s . The hiring practice has gone only refferal and back door . Fighting to reinstate honesty and truth. Hope DOGE like Movement starts in every organisation

They're not cheaper, it's because the people doing the hiring are themselves, thus only hiring within their own, when you walk into a whole area of 200, 300 seats and everybody on that team is from a single origin likely initially through an H1B, you're not going to tell me there isn't a single capable person locally who can't be hired for such jobs.

We US citizens and congressmen are fools . Nothing make sense on why these companies require contractors or employees in H1 or EADs when every Indian metro cities also has their captive centers.

We do not sponsor h1 but hire people from vendors who hire h1 and h4 only. We feel h4s are better than recent college grads .

Citi does not sponsor H1b visa, those are from vendors.

Again why mixing h1 with college grads . Don’t we have US Citizens who are recent grads from college. Guess it’s the management who always wants yesmen and slaves underneath them .

Cheaper. Most of them do not bring families. People on visas are always under pressure to perform as well. They would everything to stay.

The college graduates requires fresh H1B which is costly. Citi reuses existing H1B from another internal team and no longer sponsor H1B or limited processing for external hires. H1B's are getting costly but the problem with college graduates is they are just bookish and don't have practial experience and team spirits. We don't want to handle a running production to a novice learner.

Here some contract jobs are simply scam. I know contractor working in same role since from 10 years. And the contractor doing nothing. Generally rare skills where no one available in team we go for outside, but this skill set is available every where. May be manager getting share from this contract.
