Whenever bonuses are at risk, they lop off whatever % of the workforce it takes to reduce costs enough to hit performance metrics regardless of experience, track record, loyalty, reason, etc. If you are not at the top you are expendable, especially if you're making more than the market average. This is what happens when you let finance and outside consulting firms run a tech company. Won't be long before McKinsey advises them to switch strategy from a steady diet of offshoring, moderate layoffs, and d-mb acquisitions to AI and wholesale layoffs. I'm sure the mgmt team will celebrate and get sweet bonuses for driving everything into the ground... until the axe comes for them as well. Nah, just kidding this isn't going to happen! Right?
