Who knows what severance will even look like, especially further down the line. We'll also just be adding thousands more unemployed coders and other workers to an already saturated job market. I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to quit and start looking for a job in a related, or even completely different, industry. Maybe it’s time to change the career path entirely.

Don't care. You're trolling anyways
I have a peer who has been working here for 26 years and she was worried about severance. That told me everything I needed to know. Retire godda-mit . You probably made millions if you invested wisely. But again it's a she so I'm not surprised
you should've taken the buyout last year. anyone that didn't is living in delusion.
@a4 Oh no, there will be plenty of severance.
There just won't be any severance pay.
@ah hahahaha was it worth waiting for that? Why don't you just pray an see what that brings.... My uncle (who was an a$$) told me something useful in his own demented way: sh!t in one hand and wish (or pray) in the other and see which fills up first
Hang in there and at least see if there is a decent package as opposed to quitting with nothing. If you are almost eligible for sabbatical you won’t receive it as they cut you before the eligibility date. I’d be looking right now for any opportunities. If you land something, I’d take it as generally it should also gain you a bit more salary….I wouldn’t bail without something else.
Intel is not the same company of the 90’s for sure.
Totally worth of waiting. You will thank me later.
Youngsters don't understand that the people that get laid off first, take up all the jobs that are available in a particular city. Poeple that wait and get laid off much later, after initial layoffs, have to sell their houses and move to another city.
I'm an old fa-t, and have seen this play out many times - the early bird gets the worm!
Hurry up, those Home Depot jobs are going fast.
Nothing absolutely nothing is worth this job. People who have been here for any longer than 5 years are completely washed folks
collect your government cheese. don’t quit unless you have another job lined up. The healthcare difference alone between laid off and quitting is staggering. COBRA matters. If you can’t stand the job or need time to hunt quiet quit. Even if you get fired you get government benefits
Be thankful that you aren't in the gulag yet.
What? There is no severance. Why do some still think there will be a severance?!
