Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Anyone resign in UK or Irleland recently? How much notice to give?

Has anyone resigned in Ireland/UK recently? If so, how much notice did you give? Wondering if should I wait until the final week and only give few days notice to ensure I get paid right up until joining new company. If I give a few weeks notice is there a chance they would tell me leave immediately and then I would be without salary in the interim

A month notice period in Ireland, paid. They will not pay sick leave during that period and will pay/deduct annual leave pro rata in your last payslip.

Remember that Dell UK pays you a month in arrears. So that pay you get for May is for you working April.

@a3 this! You still get paid your notice.

Usually stated in your contract. If you chose to honour that is up to you. Worth noting that Ireland is a small place and word gets around. UK less so.

If it's a competitor the same day you give the notice they will ask for your badge and laptop. They will pay you until the last day on the notice. Usually the notice it's one month.
