Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

1:20 my a_$$

There are still 50% of management has less than 20 direct report, 1:20 is just for reference/excuse, not an absolute guidelines.

We have many senior directors and VPs doing PM and senior manager works, and so many VP reports to VP and senior director reports to senior director, the org hierarchy is a joke at Dell.

The changes need to be made by day one of Q3. Still some way to go.

Yesterday I saw a Director in NA with 200++ reports!!! I posted about it here and my post was deleted.

I’m not sure what’s going on and why the post was deleted but obviously they didn’t like us talking about this.

Did you expect a single policy to be anything other than “rules for thee, but not for me”? Everything is the buddy system at Dell. There’s an exception for friends of the boss before he even utters the new policy.

Yeah my org has 2 teams one with 15 and one with 18. We've been told that "average KPIs are no longer acceptable at Dell" and those of us at or below average should expect to be dismissed in August.

Does this mean one of the team's managers is getting axed too?

It's been a 15:1 requirement for 5 years now but no one ever did anything about enforcing it

It's meant to be an average. Not an absolute for all managers.
