Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

I wish I could name & shame some of the horrible managers I worked with!

Is it odd that 4 out of 6 of my managers were absolute dimwits?

80% of the managers I had at Lenovo were corporate clowns. Complete robots towing the company line at any cost. Most were boomers, there were 1-2 Gen-Xers (I liked one of them), and one Millennial who was ok. I think it's less generational and speaks more to the decayed culture of this company, largely in thanks to what was brought over from IBM. Glad I left!

The worst managers I ever worked with were baby boomers. Every last one gave special treatment to their favorites, which usually were also boomers. Poor behavior toward younger workers, female workers, and some minorities was totally fine. If you dared stand up for yourself, all of the sudden the boomer managers grew a conscience and defended the people who were attacking you, but had nothing to say about their behavior toward you. It's like public school where the bullies get away with everything (and the teacher knows it) but when you finally stand up for yourself, you're the one in the principal's office.

I actually had a boomer manager respond to one of my complaints about several instances of bullying by a higher-band employee with, and I quote "I think you need to toughen up." He fully admitted that the person's behavior toward me was unacceptable, but responded right away with "I'm not going to do anything about it.", completely nullifying the admission...

No accountability. Never admit they were wrong, but had no problem publicly discrediting you or throwing you under the bus in meetings. This has filtered down into the younger generations as acceptable behavior and has long since become a part of Lenovo culture.

Yeah there's no point in naming names unless they're like, I dunno... CEOs or something. I think it has to do with this site's rules, maybe.
